We had our 20(ish) week ultrasound last Thursday! The gender-revealing ultrasound that we have been so excitedly anticipating! And we found out that the baby is a...
GIRL!
It feels pretty crazy to know who is baking in my oven. We've started referring to baby with the appropriate female pronouns, now, as well as her name--Avery Amelia. She even already has an affectionate nickname--Avy. Mr. Epic goes by a shortened nickname version of his given name, so we very naturally stumbled upon this one for baby girl.
So, now that we know the gender of baby Avy, we've started on a few tasks we were saving. I purchased a few girl-specific clothing items, namely little denim skirts for Avery to wear with her nerdy "boy's" onesies so people won't say, "Oh, what a cute little boy in his Batman onesie..." I picked up some headbands for that cause, too. We've also purchased a couple of color-specific nursery items, and we picked out the nursery color: Pantone - Princess Blue.
I still don't think my brain has completely come to terms with knowing the gender of our baby--it still feels pretty surreal. But seeing her squirm around and head-bang on the screen during the ultrasound (she is quite the little gymnast!) and seeing all her little organs and parts, and knowing they all look to be developing well so far...well, it all starts to feel a bit more real at the same time!
